The Race

It seems that's the theme for the day...my alarm clock goes off every morning at 5:30am...I hit the snooze until 5:50am then get up at 6am. Works every morning...til today. I was in some sort of dream...all I remember is that I was decorating for some sort of party ( a western theme...no wonder I didn't want to get up!). There were cowboy boots everywhere! I distinctly remember putting boots on the tables to use for drinks, and deciding against that because my mother would NEVER drink out of a cowboy boot! I loved it! Anyway, when I did finally wake up enough to look at the clock, it was 6:45! We have to leave to go to the bus stop at 7:10! It's really not much a problem for a 10yr. old boy...pop-tart, clothes, brush teeth & hair...out the door! But teenage girls?! Let the race begin! Well, we pulled in at the bus stop alongside the bus, but , hey, we made it...I didn't have to drive to Waynesboro this morning...we missed the bus on Monday, and had to make the drive :(
The real race, though, is this afternoon, when we travel to Lyons, Ga to watch Jaimee in her track meet. She's running the 4x100 relay, the 4x400 relay and the 200 meter. They would have to roll me out of there on a stretcher, but Jaimee's got some stamina! And she's fast, too...so she should do well. I found this quote about running that I'd like to share and also give a big shout-out for the EBA JV Track Team..."Run, Team, Run!"

“Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning in Africa, a lion wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a lion or gazelle – when the sun comes up, you’d better be running.”
